Elsewhere in Yunnan province, the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture also experienced significant disruptions due to flooding and landslides. Authorities reported multiple road closures, which have complicated rescue and recovery operations. Dense fog in the area further hindered rescue teams’ ability to access remote locations, delaying efforts to assess the full extent of the damage and provide necessary assistance to affected residents.
Emergency services responded swiftly to evacuate both residents and visitors from the affected regions. In the Meri Snow Mountain scenic zone, located within the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, approximately 300 tourists were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Several hundred local residents were also relocated to temporary shelters to ensure their safety as conditions deteriorated.
The Chinese government has mobilized emergency response teams, including search and rescue units, medical personnel, and logistical support crews, to provide aid to the stricken areas. Temporary shelters have been established to house displaced individuals, and relief supplies, including food, water, and medical aid, are being distributed to meet immediate needs. Infrastructure repair teams have also begun preliminary assessments of damaged roads and bridges to prioritize reconstruction efforts once conditions stabilize.
